I know what you’re thinking, we’ve tried this before, more than once even. However, I think we have a different opportunity this time. With the infrastructure bill passing, there will be more money to the MDOT for pedestrian installations, like sidewalks and cross walks. Steep Falls already has a nice sidewalk down Route 11 to the bridge, let’s extend it from Route 11 on the side of the library all the way to Boundry road along Route 113. There used to be a sidewalk on this section a long time ago. This would make walking safe on a very busy road for everyone and allow folks to travel by foot to the farmers market, playground, post office, library(which has a sidewalk), future businesses in the village, Steep Falls Preserve, Pine Root Farm, and hopefully the mountain division trail in the future. The latest attempts to achieve this were only looking at increasing property taxes. Let’s get this done by applying for State Funds specifically for this purpose!
