The NWI Times has written an article about the petition. However, I feel our point is misconstrued. The angle in the article seems to say we vehemently oppose another strip mall. While some certainly do, the point in its entirety is that we don't want ANYTHING built there. No corporate business centers, no medical offices, no chain restaurants and no strip malls. We oppose each and every one of those possibilities. We want the space to be used in a way the community desires, not a way that only benefits local politicians. This land has extraordinary historical value and should be recognized as such.
I'll be bringing the petition and signatures, as well as my personal rebuttal, to the town council meeting. The meeting is this Wednesday at 7PM at 10 E Joliet in Schererville. Please join me to voice our concerns and ensure that those who are meant to represent us understand what we want.
