On April 12th, 2018 a state trooper killed an innocent dog at a home in Plattsburgh. The dog warden was unreachable for multiple hours leading up to the killing. This was someone’s pet and friend. The dog was scared and out of place but was not an immediate threat to the people around him. Due to lack of resources available at the time the state trooper made the decision to end his life. Because the dog warden works a full time job in another town, he was unable to response to the incident. There have been multiple complaints about his lack of availability. And let’s face it, our tax dollars are paying for a position that is not adequately filled. It’s time we make a change to prevent another loss of a furry friend we either need to replace or hire an additional animal control officer.
