The comments I read in the petition motivated me to take positive action and 'pay it forward'.  That's why I created a 'gofundme' account to support Comfy Cat Shelter of Orillia - where over 100 cats call home, and need your financial support - as much as you are willing or can afford.

I'd like to address the community of the original petition with the following:

Dear ~50 Petition Signers (of the original petition),

May I have a moment of your time.

Clearly, good intentions are present at the Comfy Cat Shelter of Orillia.  How many of us have made the commitment it takes to run a shelter, or at least foster a pet.  

But, just as clearly, we all know good intentions are not enough. 

So I urge you, instead of signing the petition to shut down the Comfy Cat Shelter of Orillia, donate $10 (or what you can afford). I set up an account on gofundme.com and started the fund with $50.

With 100+ cats to care for, the goal of $15,000 I set is dreadfully under estimated, but at least a start to an urgent need.   

If you disagree with this number, calculate total costs of your pet for 1 year.  Now multiply that number by 100.

Dear Owners of Comfy Cat Shelter of Orillia: I urge you to start using these funds to spay/neuter first, then look after subsequent issues.  I think that’s the most effective approach: ensuring the problem does not compound, then tackle the rest of the issues.

I’ve never created a donations account before.  I see that the ‘GoFundMe’ organization takes approx 7% for processing fees.  Which would mean I’m on the hook for more than $1000.  With that said, yeek!, let’s hope for the best.

Dear Comfy Cat Shelter Volunteers: I urge you to go back to the shelter and volunteer.  Your impact on the lives of these cats is significant.  Take a stand. 

Challenge 2 friends: who can do the most in 1 hour.  Approach this task like any other project: plan, execute, measure, enjoy.

 Make a difference.  Be proud of yourself and your actions. Sleep well. Repeat.
