The residents of North East, MD are paying astronomical rates for the water, rates are more expensive than other water companies in the area and they provide less gallons of water to residents before applying overage fees, residents are only given one option for their water provider. Out of town residents are paying almost triple for their water, bills are as high as $1,000 per quarter. The North East water company has failed multiple water inspections and raised rates on their residents in the last year. There is little to no leeway if someone does not have the funds to pay such high water bill and face over $300 dollars to have water cut back on if disconnected. As residents of North East it is not just to force us to pay such high rates for something we all need to live. We are requesting that the city reduce their rates to a more realistic rate or allow residents the ability to select other water providers that will provide fair and just rates to their customers.
