STOP Amazon Distribution Center in HOLBROOK

The Issue

The negative impacts of having an Amazon Distribution Center on Veteran's Highway and Broadway Avenue in Holbrook, NY are:

1. The traffic during the day and night on Veteran's Highway and Broadway Avenue. As 20+ 18 wheeler trucks and 200+ Amazon vans enter and exit the facility onto Veteran's Hwy and/or Broadway Avenue.

2. The sound impact would be the most concerning, having the loudest loading area so close to residential properties. They will be loading and unloading trucks 24/7. Residential houses are less than 240 feet away from the loading area. Current residents that are close to Amazon Distribution Centers in other areas have expressed their frustration with the sound and vibrations they hear and feel from their homes.

3. The light impact will be seen from neighboring houses and shine into their houses/bedrooms. *Seinfeld show (season 8, episode 8) when the Chicken Roaster moved into the neighborhood and Kramer went crazy because of the glow from the sign.

4. Pollution from idling trucks and vans as they load and unload. 200+ vehicles in the area each day.

5. The impact on the environment when trees are cut down.

6. As Amazon gets bigger, they will need more trucks to load and unload at the Distribution Center.

7. Property value of houses in the area will be negatively impacted.

8. Where will the water go? Residents are already lower than the building, if they cut down trees to expand, the runoff will impact residents, yards, basements, and/or streets.

9. Students with Special Needs living in the area that would be impacted by the noise, lights, extra traffic.

Please say NO to the building of the Amazon Distribution Center at this location. Having a 24/7 trucking company would be better suited for an area with a greater buffer from residential housing, it is simply too close to people's houses.

There are no other Amazon Distribution Centers that are any where near residential houses. They are built in industrial areas. Sign the petition to STOP the building of this facility to save our neighborhood.
