The Town of Islip wants to privatize Atlantique, Fire Island because there is a lot of work to be done and they don’t want to put the money into it. Even though you are still able to go the prices will be raised, so it won’t be as accessible to everyone. The truth is this isn’t just your regular beach, my friends and I have created friendships and memories here ever since we were babies. This beach means so much to us and to not be able to show our kids where we grew up would be upsetting and would take away the privileges that young kids have. This beach doesn’t just benefit the kids, but the adults as well. I love to see my parents stress free and enjoying themselves with their friends. It’s a place where the adults and kids have their own freedoms. If the Town of Islip would keep Atlantique public then we would still be able to make more memories and enjoy this unique Island.
