I would like to ask the Town of East Hampton CT to explore ways of saving the stone wall at the intersection of Summit St and Lakeview Street, instead of just tearing it down. 

Preserving what gives a small town its character and flavor is a hard but worthwhile cause. And while it is true that sometimes it becomes necessary to change, it should never be done lightly, or merely for expediency. 

The stone wall should not be torn down, it is quite simply too much of a local landmark. It is a part of the Old Home Day parade route.  It is a part of the character of one of East Hamptons historic original homes. A home built by one of the Bevins over 200 years ago.  It a part of the weekend drives that so many take. It is a part of what makes East Hampton what it is. It's loss would be too much a part of the slow erosion of Connecticut's small historic towns into nothing more than another of the homogenous suburbs of the larger urban areas. 

The State of Connecticut has even given East Hampton grants before, to repair the other stone walls around town, including many of the ones on the same street.  Some of which are only a few feet away from this one.  It was clearly thought that those were worth keeping, and it is clear that this one is worth keeping too. 

Please sign, and let our town know that we should find a way to keep this stone wall.
