We recently found out that yet another Dollar General is coming to our small area. This one in West Chazy across from Gumas. This puts this store 3.5 miles from the current Beekmantown Dollar Store and right in the back yard of the West Chazy Mini Mart that provides general convenience items and gas.  If you look at the model of the Dollar General stores you will see their strategy and how they push out smaller businesses such as Ma and Pa Stores.. You know the ones that support your fund raisers, local charities, neighbors in need of help.

Dollar stores don't carry your locally produced goods such as honey, maple syrup, meats, cheeses, etc. They carry canned goods loaded with preservatives. Dollar stores don't do the WIC program which a lot of families locally rely on to help feed their children. They also don't become Choice Retailers that provide healthier food

Once Dollar General flushes these smaller stores out they now control things and you often see that store only stick around 10 years before they pack up shop and go elsewhere. They are already in Chazy, Mooers, Altona, and Beekmantown. Do we really need another one so close?

Do your research and you will clearly see our small community doesn't need another dollar store in our area. Lets start protecting our little stores we have relied on for many years.
