We the environmental advocates who love and cherish the Kaaterskill Clove are disgusted at the treatment of this land and even more outraged at towns of Catskill, Hunter, DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos and the Department of Environmental Conservation for ignoring this issue for too long. We demand that a long term solution be put in place. Private citizens should not have to risk their lives cleaning up others garbage along the side of the road. We should not have to take extreme caution to avoid collisions with other vehicles who park illegally on the road. The swimming holes people are visiting are incredibly dangerous and cause the deaths of several people each year. Those in charge are complicit by doing nothing more but giving out tickets and leaving legal parking lots open. For the sake of the environment, personal safety, traffic safety and preservation, we demand a long term solution to these problems be established immediately.
