Vote NO to sPower's Site Plan Application to Commission a Solar Power Plant on the Delalio sod farm across from Tall Grass Golf Course, between Cooper Street and 25a, in Shoreham
The Issue
This petition exists to voice opposition to a proposed ground-mounted, industrial scale solar power plant on the Delalio sod farm between Cooper Street and 25a, west of Randall Road in Shoreham, NY.
The proposed industrial development will be enormous: A 60 acre, 50,000 panel solar Power Plant that will irreparably destroy the community's rural character.
The project proposes 10 foot high solar arrays and an inverter power station surrounded by an 8 foot high chain link fence.
The Power Plant will be in a residential area, directly behind homes and across the street from the Arthur G. Prodell middle school on the west and close to the Miller Avenue elementary school on the north. According to local realtors, the proposed Power Plant will decrease property values of all surrounding homes.
The site plan application for the proposed Power Plant is inconsistent with the spirit of the Route 25A Corridor Study and is not compatible with the community character, public convenience or maintenance of a satisfactory community environment of Shoreham.
For health, safety, environmental, economic, aesthetic, and other reasons, we vigorously oppose the approval of sPower's site plan application for construction of an industrial scale solar power plant on the Delalio sod farm between Cooper Street and 25a, east of Randall Road in Shoreham, NY.
