The Issue

The rapid pace at which the Town of Cramerton is developing is causing severe loss in habitats and biodiversity. You can ask any environmental scientist and they will tell you that biodiversity is not only measured by how many different species there are but how many there are of these species. The destruction of their home and resources caused by the new residental/non-residental developments have caused the loss of homes for all the animals like the White Tail Deer, Barred Owl, etc.  The fragilty of this beautiful environment needs to be protected and we as the citizens must prevent any harm or development that could come its way. This would be the first wildlife refuge in Gaston County and with the constant change and disappearance of our ecosystem, it is important that we protect these precious species and the vegetation that also calls this land home. Just because we as humans "own" this land does not mean that we have to build and develop this habitat, stripping the land of the animals that also call it home. This piece of land would be perfect to explore and discover the great things that nature provides for us. With a walking trail already developed nearby and this land extending to the Goat Island River Link, it is the perfect space for this refuge. So please join us in signing this petition and support our local ecosystems.
