On 2/23/22 the Torrington Board of Education voted to enact the use of yondr phone pouches. These pouches restrict the use of phones while in use, regardless of the situation. (e.g. medical,  mental health, emergency, etc).  At this meeting, many people from the community, administrators,  students, and parents voiced opposition to the use of these pouches.  Hearing these oppositions, the board still decided to vote yes for the use of them.   

One of the major problems is the cost.   Grant money was used to purchase these.  Money that should be going to better supplies.  Better restrooms.  Better food for the students.  All points that were made known to administrators at the beginning of the school year through questionnaires.

Today, 2/24/22, there was a sit in/walk out protest at Torrington high school.  The students are fed up with administrators and the board of education constantly overlooking and ignoring the basic needs of our students.   The protest today was a direct result of this.

We need changing of the guard on the Torrington board of education.   And it starts with a vote of no confidence.   Please help our school community get better representation for our children.
