RESPECT THE PEOPLE'S PLAN FOR THE WATERFRONT: It's the right plan for Toronto.

- Don’t show contempt for the public process

- Don’t waste taxpayer dollars to start over

- Don’t abandon a plan that makes economic sense

- Don’t sell out our waterfront in a backroom deal

On September 21, we are counting on Toronto City Council to say NO to the Executive Committee’s recommendations.

Thousands of Torontonians have spent 6 years working with Waterfront Toronto and the most qualified experts in the world to create a plan that is visionary, practical, sustainable and internationally respected.

The plan fulfills a long standing goal of returning the mouth of the Don River to a naturalized state and extending the city by creating new mixed use neighbourhoods.

The plan makes economic sense. It provides flood protection at the lowest cost of all options considered in the EA, will bring 19,000 residents and 13,000 workers into the Lower Don Lands, and will unlock billions of dollars in value in the rest of the Port Lands.

As taxpayers we have invested $19 million to bring this plan to the final stages of development readiness. A completed Environmental Assessment, Official Plan amendments and zoning for the first phase of the development were approved one year ago.

It will hurt all of us to abandon a plan of this quality and the leadership of Waterfront Toronto in favour of what is only "a collection of ideas" developed by an untested agency in the back rooms.
