Community objection to 'Meringandan West Estate, 4 Bradley Street, Meringandan West
The issue

Building proposal MCUI/2016/1418 has been submitted to council to develop a new estate between Phipps Drive and School Road in Meringandan West.
We object to the block sizes on the proposed development site at 4 Bradley Street, Meringandan West, to be known as 'Meringandan West Estate'.
Current developments in the Meringandan West area (eg. 'Rosella Highlands Estate') have an average block size of 1519m2. The proposed development of 'Meringandan West Estate' has an average block size of 742m2. Properties surrounding this devopment are 2000m2. We find this development to be non-compatible with the Toowoomba Planning Scheme (Section 7.2.1) as the proposal is not consistent with the existing community character and urban form.
Furthermore, we feel that should this development be approved in its current form that this will set a precedent for future development in the Meringandan/Meringandan West area, destroying the rural lifestyle many families have moved here to enjoy.
