Burden or Backup: Are We Raising Soldiers or Sheep?

Look around you. Walk into any coaching center in Kota, Delhi, or Hyderabad at 6:00 AM. What do you see? You don't see passion. You don't see burning ambition. You see zombies.

We are watching an entire generation—my generation—walk off a cliff, one by one, clutching an NCERT textbook like it’s a parachute.

Let’s cut the polite academic talk. We have a problem. Millions of students are throwing themselves into the meat grinder of JEE, NEET, UPSC, and NDA preparation without a single original thought in their heads. They aren't doing it because they love engineering, medicine, or defense. They are doing it because their uncle said so. Because their neighbor’s son did it. Because they are terrified that without a rank, they are nothing.

This isn't preparation. It’s panic.

We call them "backups." "Oh, I’m preparing for JEE, but I’ll give NDA a shot as a backup." Since when did commanding men in battle become a "backup plan" for failing to get into IIT Bombay? Since when did saving lives in an ER become a consolation prize?

This blind herd mentality is a burden on the nation's resources and a burden on the human soul. We are churning out burned-out 17-year-olds who know how to solve a differential equation in 30 seconds but don't know why they want to solve it.

Is this Education or an Assembly Line?

If you are studying 14 hours a day for a career you hate, you aren't hardworking; you are trapped. You are burdening the system with mediocrity because you occupy a seat that belongs to someone who actually bleeds for that profession.

So, I’m asking you—the parents pushing your kids, the teachers fueling the hysteria, and the students blindly following the herd:

Are you chasing a dream, or are you just running because everyone else is?
