Protect Waterford's Coastline: Sign the Petition Now!

The Waterford coast is at risk, and we need your help. The Government of Ireland have identified four sites for the development of offshore wind off the coast of Co. Waterford. This plan is known as the South Coast DMAP. With up to 425 massive turbines, each towering up to 300 meters tall, these turbines could be six times the height of Helvick Head or Brownstown Head.

One of these sites, 'An Tonn Nua' (site 'A'), is alarmingly close to shore, just 12.4km from the Copper Coast. This proximity threatens our biodiversity, our fishing industries and our beautiful coastline.

What We're Asking For: We are calling for the removal of site 'A' from the plan. This would reduce the number of turbines by 75, an 18% decrease overall, significantly lessening the impact.

Why This Matters: Offshore wind is crucial for combating climate change, but these farms don't need to be so close to our shores. Scotland's Morven wind farm, for example, is 60km from shore in water 75m deep, and it will be operational by 2030. We believe all wind farms off Waterford should be placed at least 22km from shore, protecting marine life and reducing the impact on communities.

Take Action: Sign our petition to remove site 'A' and save Waterford's coast.
