The previous Mayor Margaret Strelow left the city with a water area that is truly a scoff at Rockhampton's residents and rate payers. Now with new Mayor Tony Williams wanting to spend over 1.4  million dollars to cut trees down in the Historic Botanical Gardens for yet another shadeless, waterless playground one must seriously begin to question education and IQ tests of decision makers. Are they considering the statistics from BOM, CSIRO, and The Australian Institute moving forward? Do they care for quality of life for rate payers and potential future workers and their families? Yeppoon and Gracemere now both have received water parks however Rockhampton has once again been ignored. With the growth and population fast lagging behind all cities along the Queensland coast liveability is obviously a real problem for the Rockhampton Your signature and reawakening of this petition is a call for the 1.4 million dollars to be reallocated to a genuine water play area for families and not clearing world renowned heritage plantings for another hot playground.
