A26 Off Road Cyclepath Tonbridge to Hadlow - Update - May '24

Dear Supporter

The latest position on the status of this project after a positive start is disappointing. 

After submission of the petition the Joint Transportation Committee (KCC & TMBC)  unanimously approved this scheme. It was stated that it was very positive that funding could be secured from a separate funding to Active Travel. 

For the past year it has been with the KCC team to investigate and provide a business case for funding. 

Hadlow college then advised by North Kent College withdrew previous support for this route across an existing footpath on Hadlow college land. 

The remaining part of the cycle route recently was unable to gain any support for funding from TMBC in March. 

An off road footpath was still under review along this route but again this is unlikely to gain funding as TMBC have to approve. 

We are all aware of the volume of traffic, the unreliable public transport, high risks to walking/cycling along this road and the lack of a much needed footpath or cyclepath along this route.
