The Hadlow Road in Tonbridge is one of the busiest roads in Kent. This road is the main route for traffic into Tonbridge and also the main route for circa 1000 students to travel to Hadlow College and Hadlow School. 

Currently the only accessible way to get to Hadlow from Tonbridge and vice versa along the A26 is by car or bus. The foot path stops near Carpenters lane both sides. The road had always been very dangerous to cycle with the high volume of traffic. There have been many accidents over the years. 

Currently it is high risk for Students to cycle to college and cyclists who want to use the A26 to cycle to work (with high petrol costs) or keep fit.

I have been in contact with KCC and TMBC for 3 years requesting that funding is applied to this much needed project.  I have put forward a solution that would involve use of the existing wide verges as the cycle routes have been rejected due to plans involving the purchase farmland these have been high cost. 

There are also fresh planning applications pending for more housing in this area which will further increase traffic.
