This unbearable loss not only devastated our family but also brought to light a pressing public health crisis that extends far beyond Schuylkill County, affecting countless communities across Pennsylvania and other states. While our grief is still raw, we are determined to honor Tomasso's memory by advocating for change and ensuring that no other family suffers a similar tragedy. Currently, our focus is on the Drug Delivery Resulting in Death legislation in Pennsylvania, which we believe must be enforced and utilized to hold drug dealers accountable for their deadly actions. We will fight tirelessly to push for change, starting with the proper enforcement and charging of drug dealers under this legislation, to prevent further losses and ensure justice for our son and all victims of drug-related deaths.

Tragedy struck on February 18, 2024, when our son was found unresponsive in Schuylkill Haven, PA. Despite the dire circumstances - no pulse or breathing for 20-30 minutes - EMS performed a miraculous revival, and he was rushed to the hospital for life support. However, the individuals present at the scene claimed to know him only as "Dino," and I had to identify him over the phone after repeated calls. This revelation adds to our family's pain and raises urgent questions about the events surrounding our son's tragic experience.

The circumstances of my son's death are far more complex and disturbing than a simple overdose case. The individuals present in the apartment claimed that my son was breathing abnormally around 1 am, yet they failed to seek medical attention for approximately 10 hours, raising serious concerns about their actions and motives. Furthermore, not only was my son's identity concealed, but he was also victimized and robbed while in a vulnerable state, adding to the tragedy. The delayed response, concealment of his identity, and potential criminal activities that occurred all require scrutiny. It is essential that we uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable.

Following my son's tragic death, the officer acknowledged that cases like these can be challenging. However, we have evidence that suggests a deliberate attempt to hide my son's identity. Notably, a so-called friend of my son's messaged me before I arrived at the hospital, revealing that a neighbor had handed over my son's personal belongings, including his ID, debit card, and credit card - but conspicuously, the cash he had with him was missing. This raises grave concerns about the individuals' involvement and motives. Despite the challenges, we are determined to seek justice for my son and uncover the truth surrounding his passing.

Our son demonstrated remarkable resilience, clinging to life on life support for 8 1/2 days and giving us a glimmer of hope. However, the harsh reality of his condition became clear when the critical care doctors delivered the devastating news: he would never awaken and would be trapped in a permanent vegetative state, a fate we knew he would never have wanted. With heavy hearts, we made the agonizing decision to remove life support, expecting his passing to be swift. But our son's fighting spirit persisted, and he continued to defy the odds, battling on for nearly 36 hours before finally finding peace. His strength and resilience will forever be etched in our memories, a testament to his courage and determination.

The critical care doctor's words cut deep when he told us that if help had been called for when our son first started breathing abnormally, he would likely still be with us today. This devastating revelation only added to the heartbreak and tragedy of our loss, highlighting the cruel twist of fate that unfolded. The what-ifs and if-onlys now haunt us, a constant reminder of what could have been if only those present had acted swiftly and decisively.
