Problem: the unnecessary euthanasia of shelter animals. If you love animals and are looking for a companion, PLEASE do not buy from a store, those animals have plenty of opportunities compared to the animals at ACCT and other shelters that may never have a chance of a home outside of a cage until they are put to sleep. For example, ACCT is a government run facility that euthanizes dogs and cats because they get an overwhelming amount of animals dropped at their door step a day. Why are we letting our government get away with killing animals that NEVER have a chance at life!? This is not the shelters fault, the staff works there when no one else would and help try to give these animals an opportunity to LIVE.

Statistics: 

In August 2015 ALONE so far ACCT Philly took in 2,623 animals.

DOGS: 727 taken in, 165 of them have been killed(euthanized without reason), 207 were adopted, 67 returned to owners.

CATS: 1,666 taken in, 609 adopted, 423 killed(euthanized without reason)

SMALL ANIMAL AND WILDLIFE: 230 intake, 95 EUTHANIZED(without reason)

809 neuters/spays to ONE doctor. This is not okay. There is not enough space, not enough funds giving to these shelters, not enough being done to change it.

Solution: The government should be giving more money to fund these facilities so they don't have to be a kill shelter.

What can we do to stop this cruelness: One ADOPT! These animals are friendly and playful just waiting to be given a chance. And yes there is more breeds than pit-bulls, there are puppies and plenty of kittens! Two sign this petition, don't ignore that this is happening, if you care, help CHANGE it.

The story: It just broke my heart as well as my friends (and I know many others) when we had to go to ACCT shelter. All these dogs and cats just homeless and so scared and when you walk past the aisles they all look at you with such hope and they don't understand why they're there. Such a stressful environment and when there isn't enough room they euthanize dogs because legally ACCT can't deny anything whether it be a dog, cat, alligator, bird..you name it. These poor animals were shaking in their cage scared out of their minds because their owners decided to move, or their owners don't have enough time for them anymore, or their owners tried to make their dog aggressive for protection and they end up there. It's not their fault, they are SO helpless and it's the most emotional, unfair, and heart wrenching thing to see them there and sit here knowing they are going to sit in a cold, dark, loud cage never knowing what's going to come next. We are just extremely saddened by what we saw and want to make a change, for a happier more safe environment and for "kill shelters" not to exists. Thank you.
