Making Kobe’s Law

Making Kobe’s Law
The Issue
Why does everything come down to race? I use to think animal lovers were some of the best humans in the world, until Kobe was hit by a car. This one incident not only showed me the corrupt aspects of Veterinary Practice partnered with some rescues, but it also showed me the constant attack on the black male in all aspects of life.
Originally I founded S.A.R because I wanted to save all abandoned and neglected animals. Fighting to return Kobe to his Papa changed my mission. I realized you can’t save animals until the corruption within the system is fixed. This is how the idea to make Kobe’s law was formed.
Kobe’s Law states, “Pet parents coming into the Emergency Veterinary cannot be discriminated against due to their race. Due to the high cost of surgery a payment plan should be offered as a last resort. Under no circumstances can a dog be surrendered to a rescue to covert surgery cost if they come from a loving home. If a rescue decides a to cover the cost of surgery for a pet, it must be done as a donor, not under the pretense the pet has to be surrendered.”
If you have followed Kobe’s journey, support the Making Kobe’s Law movement by signing the petition. We will also be releasing a 10 part mini-docuseries mid 2021 called Making Kobe’s Law. On this docuseries we will get into the details of Kobe’s story, and take you on a journey of creating Kobe’s law. You can also donate to The Kobe’s Law Fund which will provide grants to pet parents in the same predicament as Kobe’s papa. Keep up with this project and us by following us on Instagram & Facebook @saveanimalrescue.
