Petition updateEducational Leaders Please Pass Climate Action Resolutions to Protect Students#27 Santa Cruz County Office of Education passes a climate action resolution
Schools for Climate Action
Oct 28, 2018

Hi All,

The Santa Cruz County Office of Education passed a climate action resolution. In it, they call climate change a "children's issue" and call on "all elected leaders" and "all institutions" to respond to this crisis which disproportionately harms young people and future generations.

27 school boards and 1 student council have now officially spoken up with climate action resolutions. The social norm for climate silence among educational leaders is starting to flip. All 90,000 school board members in the nation---the only elected leaders with a singular focus on the well-being and future success of children---can help provide a check on 30 years of climate neglect from Congress which so clearly threatens all American young people. Please share this petition and email your local, county, and state school boards encouraging them to speak up to prevent harm to kids.

Thank you, Superintendent Watkins and the trustees of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Park Guthrie
