Our petition is working! I recently learned that the Pacific Region Trustees of the National School Boards Association have proposed a climate action resolution for the entire Association. It will be considered in the spring of 2019. Here is the text of the proposed resolution.

This is a clear indication that the social norms among educational leaders is starting to shift. Most already privately believe that climate change harms kids and that Congress should act. Soon, with our urging, the majority of educational leaders may state this private belief publicly in climate action resolutions. This will help drive a paradigm shift in our larger society that will help move Congress to act to protect young people and future generations. Social norms can flip rapidly. 

Now is the time to engage your local and county school boards (and your state board if you do not live in California). Just the fact that the NSBA is considering a climate action resolution may embolden your local school board members to pass their own.
