Young people of Stirling - ask Stephen Kerr MP to justify his support of May's Brexit deal
The Issue
Dear Mr Stephen Kerr,
We, the young people of Stirling, are worried about the impact that Brexit will have on our future.
Over the course of the two years since the Brexit vote occurred, it has become increasingly obvious that Brexit will have a detrimental effect on the British way of life. Recent economic projections have shown that our economy will shrink, wages will fall, and unemployment will rise, whatever the final Brexit scenario.
For our generation, this represents a loss of opportunity.
Theresa May’s Brexit deal will harm young people all over the country. The uncertainty over the Northern Irish border threatens the fragile peace that exists there; the transition period for the Single Market and Customs Union means that we are bound by EU rules, without being able to influence what they are; and the divorce bill means that much-needed funds are diverted away from our essential public services. Additionally, Scotland is not mentioned once in the 585-page document.
Please will you justify your support for Theresa May’s Brexit deal?
If this deal goes through, not only will our generation be the ones most affected, but we will also be left to pick up the pieces. We urge you, as our parliamentary representative, to reject this deal, and to support a people’s vote on Brexit.
Yours
