We, the undersigned, are opposed to the planned Dranoff Cricket Lot development because it is well beyond the scale of the surrounding neighborhood and will destroy the character of Ardmore. An eight-story structure in this pedestrian-friendly, family neighborhood is not responsible development. While we are not opponents of change, and we want to see Ardmore thrive and succeed, we believe that any benefit derived from this project is far outweighed by its costs to the community.
We believe that a project of this magnitude will threaten pedestrian safety, dramatically increase traffic, congestion and pollution, overburden our already overburdened public schools and undermine our quality of life. It will guarantee the demise of many long-standing Ardmore businesses that border the Cricket lot by eliminating surface parking and preventing access to these businesses.
We believe that there should be a maximum height of four stories in Ardmore. The MUST Ordinance, a zoning ordinance specifically crafted to assist developers, permits the proposed Dranoff project to be 92 feet in height which is eight stories. We assert that MUST must be eliminated.
Our vision for Ardmore is one of a walkable neighborhood with a thriving downtown, diversity in demographics and housing options, and one that reflects thoughtful and responsible development. We urge you to help us achieve this vision for us and for future generations.
