Tok High Should Let Students Wear Black Pants and /or PE Gear in Regards to the weather..
The issue
Take your time and read this, we need to act upon it. And quick.
As we are going into winter, I have realised that although we have jackets and Jerseys provided, it does not beat the weather. However, the idea of letting us wear black, fully covered pants would be helpful for both students and parents. And I don't mean the boys shorts, longer/thicker socks or those puny black stockings. I don't even mean any kind of alternative to dodge this topic. I mean PLAIN, BLACK, AND FULLY COVERED PANTS!!
Keeping warm in the winter won't be so much of a hassle if you'd just let us cover the bottom half of our bodies. After all, exposing the bottom half of our body to the cold would weaken our immune system and we will fall ill quicker.
If this were to happen there will a couple of rules I'd like to include, if I may:
No large holes: large holes in pants do NOT keep you warm during the winter and is very distracting to most. It also gives off the impression that we don't put effort into our appearance.
Must be plain black: no other colours attached to the clothing, not even a coloured stitching.
No thin tights: Again, it will not keep you warm and it is very distracting.
Those are just some of the rules I'd like to include if this ever happens, you can in fact change this around to fit in with the satisfaction of the board.
Another thing about letting us wear plain black pants is that their would be a slight expansion of uniform for a student and/ or parent to select. Wearing pants will not (AND NEVER WILL) change our behaviour or neat appearance. Instead, it would make our school seem less sexist and restricted..if you get what I mean. This decision will not only make our school appear more neat, make the school seem more valid to all gender of students, OR expand the students choice in uniform, but it will also give off the impression of future students and their parents that we are always prepared.. For any kind of weather!
Im not manipulating you to make us look shaggy, of course I still want our pupils to look tidy. As I said, this decision is not going to make us look bad. Think about it.
As for the PE Gear, we should be allowed to wear our PE gear for when our weather switches over to summer. It get so hot during that time and taking off your polar fleece does NOT help!! I get that its good so we have something to sweat in for when we do PE, but we sweat either way. We can't just tell our bodies to not sweat in our formal uniform. Speaking of which, it does not apply to important assemblies as we do have to look 'prim and proper' on those occasions. You dig?
We need to make this change now!! Not next year, not the year after that, NOT WHEN OUR KIDS HAVE KIDS, but now.
If you are Tokoroa High School student and agree with either of the topics, sign the petition and make that change. Share it around if you can, it would really help! This needs to get to the board. It would also help if you tell the student council as they carry their information and take it straight to the board. I would like this to be taken to both principal and the board for review.
Thank you for your time.
