طارق البيطار محقق عدلي لبنانيّ معروف بصدقه ونزاهته، أوكل إليه مجلس القضاء الأعلى إجراء التحقيق حول خلفيّات انفجار 4 آب 2020 في مرفأ بيروت الذي تسبّب بمقتل اكثر من 218 شخصًا وبجرح 7000 آخرين.

بعدَ أن كُفَّتْ يدُه مؤقّتًا مرّتين عن التحقيق بسبب لجوء بعض المسؤولين المتّهمين إلى القضاء ، قرّر في 23 كانون الثاني استئناف تحقيقاته. منذ ذلك الحين  وهو يواجه عداء مجموعات ميليشياويّة وأوليغارشيّة سياسيّة وقضائيّة في البلاد تحاول بشَتّى السُبُل نزع الشرعيّة عنه ومنعه من مواصلة التحقيق.

Tarek Bitar, a Lebanese judge, of the highest integrity, known to be politically independent, has been appointed by the Supreme Judicial Council to investigate the origins of the Beirut port blast of 4 August 2020 which caused more than 218 deaths and 7,000 injuries.

Dismissed from the investigation on two occasions, following legal proceedings brought by some of the accused officials, on 23 January 2023, he decided to resume his investigations. Since then, he has been facing hostility from militia groups and from the political and judicial oligarchy, who are trying through every possible means to delegitimise him and prevent the investigation from continuing.

Tarek Bitar, juge d’instruction libanais, réputé pour son intégrité et son indépendance, a été chargé par le Conseil supérieur de la magistrature (CSM) de mener l’enquête sur les origines de l’explosion du 4 août 2020 dans le port de Beyrouth qui a fait plus de 218 morts et 7000 blessés.

Dessaisi temporairement de l’enquête, à deux reprises, suite aux recours en justice déposés par certains responsables incriminés, il a décidé le 23 janvier 2023 de reprendre ses investigations. Depuis cette date, il se heurte à l’hostilité des groupes miliciens et de l’oligarchie politique et judiciaire du pays qui tentent par tous les moyens de le délégitimer et d’empêcher la reprise de l’enquête.
