The people of Bangladesh are outraged by the atrocities we have been witnessing in Gaza over the last two months. There is no doubt that what is unfolding is a deliberate campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and no military or political rhetoric can justify the suffering being inflicted on innocent Palestinian civilians. Our solidarity is based on a simple, universal and unquestionable sense of humanity that we share with all peoples of the world, heightened by our own history of struggle to overcome oppression.

To our great dismay, The United States continues to support and directly facilitate one of the most horrific campaigns of genocide in modern history. It is clear that appealing on the grounds of justice and humanity is pointless, but know the true cost of the American position: America's already tenuous credibility and fledgling leadership are at stake. The United States will never recover from such massive loss of goodwill. An entire generation has witnessed war crime after war crime in excruciating detail, and will always associate images of children being massacred with American policy.

The United States must end its political and material support for the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and take every measure possible to bring an immediate end to the bloodshed. It is the hope and determination of the people of Bangladesh to nurture a world based on justice and humanity, and to support leadership that shares these fundamental values.

গত দুই মাসে গাজায় আমরা যে পাশবিক নৃশংসতা প্রত্যক্ষ করেছি, তাতে বাংলাদেশের জনগণের হৃদয়ে রক্তক্ষরণ হয়েছে। নিঃসন্দেহে তা জাতিগত নির্মূল অভিযান ছাড়া আর কিছুই নয়। তাছাড়া সামরিক বা রাজনৈতিক কোনও ভাষণ নিরপরাধ ফিলিস্তিনি বেসামরিক নাগরিকদের এই ভোগান্তির ন্যয়বিচার করতে পারেনি। আমাদের সংহতির ভিত্তি মানবতার এক সরল-সহজ, সর্বজনীন এবং প্রশ্নাতীত অনুভূতির উপর, যা আমরা বিশ্বের সকল মানুষের জন্যই হৃদয়ে লালন করি, নির্যাতন আর নিপীড়নকে জয় করার আমাদের নিজস্ব সংগ্রামের ইতিহাস আমাদেরকে তা শিখিয়েছে।

আমাদের কাছে চরম হতাশার বিষয়টি এই যে, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র আধুনিক ইতিহাসে গণহত্যার সবচেয়ে ভয়ঙ্কর এক অভিযানে সমর্থন ও সরাসরি সহায়তা করে যাচ্ছে। সেজন্য স্পষ্টতই ন্যায়বিচার এবং মানবতার ভিত্তিতে আবেদন করা অর্থহীন, কিন্তু জেনে রাখা উচিত, আমেরিকান প্রকৃত অবস্থান কোথায় দাঁড়িয়েছে: ইতিমধ্যেই আমেরিকার উপর মানুষ বিশ্বাস হারিয়ে ফেলেছে এবং নতুন নেতৃত্ব ঝুঁকির মধ্যে রয়েছে। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র আস্থা ও বিশ্বাসের এত বড় ক্ষয়ক্ষতি কাটিয়ে উঠতে পারবে না। গোটা একটা প্রজন্ম তাদেরকে একের পর এক যুদ্ধাপরাধে জড়িত হতে দেখেছে। আর সবসময়ই আমেরিকার নীতিমালায় শিশুদের গণহত্যার চিত্র যুক্ত হয়েছে।

গাজায় চলমান গণহত্যার পক্ষে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রাজনৈতিক ও বস্তুগত সমর্থন বন্ধ করতে হবে এবং এই রক্তপাত অবিলম্বে বন্ধ করতে সম্ভাব্য সব ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে। ন্যায়বিচার ও মানবতার ভিত্তিতে বিশ্ব গড়া এবং এই সার্বজনীন মূল্যবোধ বজায় রাখা নেতৃত্বকে সমর্থন করাই বাংলাদেশের জনগণের ঐকান্তিক আশা ও সংকল্প।
