To the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Ensure the safety of the nine repatriated North Korean youth before Christmas!

On the 27th of May, nine North Korean refugee children were repatriated to Pyongyang by the Laotian government as a result of North Korean diplomats' active intervention.

These youth, also known as 꽃제비 ("kotjebi" - homeless, or "wandering swallow" children), were hiding in China under the supervision of a Christian missionary for as short as three months to as long as three years before their attempted escape.

On May 10th, after their repatriation, the names and video of these children were released, shocking the international community. We can only guess the degree of persecution these children will face from the horrifying accounts of North Korean defectors. The UN Secretary General, Human Rights Chief, and the US Department of State have expressed their concern.

Despite the international outcry, Kim Jong Eun’s regime has the ability to decimate the lives of these children by isolating them in North Korea’s total control area and obscuring them from the public eye, and use them as propaganda tools.

Our North Korean brothers and sisters are suffering from starvation and oppression under the dictatorial hermit regime unprecedented in history. The nine children also defected in order to escape hunger but are now in danger of being put through torture and persecution, not only because they defected from North Korea, but they sought help from a Christian missionary.

We cannot sit and watch. We must take action and stop the North Korean regime from harming these children.

We need to rally against the South Korean (Republic of Korea's) Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ failure to protect the lives of these children, and urge the government to prevent future mishap. Please urge the government to take stringent measures against the incompetence and neglect of duty that the foreign ministry has shown.

Your signatures and your utmost attention are needed to save the lives of our nine brothers and sisters. Let’s continue working together to rescue the repatriated North Korean brothers and sisters.

Thank you.
