Dear Pro-Life Advocates!
On Friday May 18, 2019, it was reported from a credible source that “the past two weeks, states across the country mainly those led by Republicans, have passed sweeping laws to stop abortion. But last week, the states of Alabama and Missouri passed the most draconian anti-abortion laws banning abortion at all stages, including pregnancies resulting from rape and incest. Although the Alabama and Missouri laws exclude abortions that would ultimately save the life of the mother, the recent Oklahoma law does not even spare the mother's life. So you can expect it to be challenged up to the Supreme Court, which is what all the opponents of abortion wish right now. Their strategy leans heavily on the current composition of the highest Court, which they believe would rule in favor of a reversal of Roe v. Wade.
Liberal states like Vermont and New York are gearing up with trigger laws in expectation of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. According to legal experts, trigger laws work just like they're called. Meaning they will kick in the minute the court deliberates. Both proponent and opponents of abortion expect the Supreme Court to rule on these cases, with conservatives wishing for a reversal of the 1973 law that made abortion legal. Trigger laws will then allow states to pick up and continue with whatever ruling the Court will come up with, thus avoiding any chance for amendments at the state level.
Abortion is at the top of the 2020 presidential elections, political analysts say. On Friday May 18, 2019, President Donald John Trump tweeted that he was all for anti-abortion laws but not those that include rape, incest and where the life of the mother is at stick. The president tweeted the following: “Strongly Pro-life with the exception of rape, incest, and the life of the mother. Stick together and win for life in 2020."
Until then,
