The Bylong Valley Way runs from the Castlereagh Highway at Ilford to the Golden Highway at Sandy Hollow. The road was fully sealed in 2009 thanks to 1.2 million from the NSW Government and 3 million from rate payers in the Mid-Western Regional Council area. The problem we have is the cost in maintaining the road. The solution is for it to made a state road because of its state significance due to tourism and transport corridors. Council has been knocking on the State Governments door for the last 10 years to make it a state road, but due to state governments policy they have refused. I have started a petition to be presented to the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales. I consider it vital to our region. This petition is not a Council initiative but my own personal endeavour but I am sure I will get their support. You will find the petition in various locations and I have to take a trip over to Muswellbrook as well to get their support. We know the problem and we know the solution, now we just have to convince the State Government.
