Our Forests Need a New Future
The issue
For decades heavily subsidised native forest logging has threatened our wildlife and led to the loss of valuable native habitat. Our forests, home to a multitude of unique flora and fauna, are being destroyed. This is unacceptable to those of us who care about nature, recognise the threat of climate change and believe in a sustainable economy for our local communities by providing them with recreation and nature based employment.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to expand our world-class nature based tourism industry, create new jobs in regional areas, protect our unique wildlife and help reduce the effects of global warming by letting our forests grow old.
It’s time for a new future. Please do not renew the Regional Forest Agreements. Let’s use our public forests for public good.
