FILE FIR AGAINST THE JGRVK SCHOOL AND ENSURE KIDS SAFETY IN SCHOOLS

The Issue

Due to negligence of School authorities a 1st Std. student dies in Bangalore city. Master Saideep (5), a 1st Std. student attends his classes as usual on 29th June 2015, Monday.

Name of the School: Jaigopal Garodia Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra, Ramamurthy Nagar, Bangalore

The incident: During school working hours, post lunch, a fellow student pushes Saideep, forcefully. The victim falls on a desk in the class room. Master Saideep injured near his chin and neck. He was under severe shock due to the unforeseen, forcefull punch.

Mother of Saideep, Ms. Lalitha Murali comes to school premises to pick her kid. The child is weeping, unconsolable and under shock. The mother enquired the class teacher. The class teacher told Lalitha Murali that Saideep fell in the class room while playing and got injured. The class rooms are meant for teaching and learning. Class room is not a playground.

The mother of Saideep asked the class teacher, whether the kid should be administered tetvak injection to overcome septic or infection. The class teacher told the mother that it is not at all required as it was a very minor injury.

During late evening of 29th June (the day of the incident) Saideep was suffering from fever. On 30th June, the parents took their child to Amarjyothi Nursing Home, Indiranagar.

Doctors there advised to undergo blood and urine tests. As there was no dengue, no chickengunya or no typhoid was detected and hence the child, Saideep was brought back home, after treatment for fever. The kid vomited. If an injured vomits within 24 hours of head injury, the expert neurologists consider it as severe injury.

The parents approached their family doctor on 1st July 2015, Wednesday. The doctor advised them to go to Manipal Hospital and undergo CT Scan.

On reaching Manipal Hospital, doctors there rushed the boy to Children Intensive Care Unit (PICU). No CT scan was done. Master Saideep breathed his last on 2nd July 2015, Thursday night at around 10-45 pm.

The cause of death is due to injuries and there was a blood clot in kid’s brain. The Jaigopal Garodia Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra School authorities sheer negligence is responsible for kid’s death.

Master Saideep’s elder sister Deeksha is studying in the same school in 9th Std. M.S. Murali’s (Father of Saideep & Deeksha) co-brother’s daughter is also studying in the same school. Hence the parents are frightened and worried about the academic future of their daughters; apprehension haunts them. Hence they did not complain to the jurisdictional Ramamurthy Nagar police.

NO FIR INSPITE OF WRITTEN COMPLAINT

The Parents’ Association, took up the issue and filed a written complaint with Ramamurthy Nagar police on 4th July at 9.15 pm. But so far no FIR registered.

The Parents’ Association in a delegation filed a petition before the Commissioner of Police Sri M.N. Reddi and Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Sri P. Harishekharan and urged the top brass to direct the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) to book cases as per the provisions of IPC and file FIR against the school authorities.

Child safety/protection plan and Action plan as per the directions issued by the Commissioner of Public Instruction, Circular No. C7(2) pra.Shi.Aa/Sha.Ma.Le.Ki 40/2014-15 dated: 23-07-2014 is not being implemented in toto in the said school.

This apart, as per the Order of the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka in WPNo: 41196-208/2014, for safety measures in schools, The Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru city in his guidelines No. 157/MAG[1]/others/2014, dated: 30-09-2014 has directed the school managements strictly adhere to the safety measures without fail.

Inspite of all these guidelines the Jaigopal Garodia Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra School did not adhere to that, causing innocent kid Saideep’s unfortunate death.

Please join us and lets all ensure that none of our kids face this kind of negligence inside the School premises.

Saideep's grandmother and father unwell and are unable to recover from this huge loss.
