Hello again,
I have some more big news about the #savebbc3 campaign.
Last week some very big names in the television industry used their platform at the Edinburgh Television Festival to criticise the BBC's plans to take BBC3 off our television screens. They are just as angry as you are about it.
Stuart Murphy, who was involved in the launch of BBC3 and now works at Sky, said the BBC were making a “massive strategic mistake” by taking it off-air. He said by doing this the Corporation were taking a "step away from a commitment to younger people".
Zai Bennett, who quit running BBC3 after the Director General announced his plans, was even more critical. He said making the channel online-only was a "smokescreen" for massive cuts which he said would see the budget “obliterated”.
He said the money would end up being re-used for the "old, white middle class people" audience of other BBC channels rather than protecting BBC3's young and diverse audience.
This is exactly why we're continuing to fight the Director General’s plans before the BBC Trust make the final decision. We've added links to the full articles on our Twitter and Facebook pages, which we'd recommend you follow for the latest news. We're at @SaveBBCThree on Twitter and on this page on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/save3.
Once again a big thank you for your support.
