This lunchtime the Director General of the BBC declared: "I believe in a BBC for everyone". If Lord Hall truly meant this he wouldn't be pressing ahead with cutting the content budgets for the BBC3 audience by 50%, and removing a service we all value from TV, while respending the money on audiences already well-catered for by the BBC.
If the BBC is for everyone he will stand up for those who only watch BBC Three out of all the BBC TV channels, and the 72% who were surveyed by the BBC Trust who said they prefer to watch BBC Three on television.
The Director General says politicians should keep out of the BBC's affairs. He cited the Millennium Dome as a reason why they shouldn't be involved in creative decisions. We agree with him, but an online-only BBC Three could be just as disastrous if young people do not buy-in to what they're doing.
The BBC must engage with us - particularly young people. So far we feel we've been ignored. With the government wanting to "debate the future" of Radio 1, and with talk of CBBC potentially moving online-only too it appears it will be the young generation that pays the price of these cuts. Can you name a BBC cut that doesn't impact us?
Take a few minutes to write to the chair of the BBC Trust about it. You can send a letter from your computer or phone, you can send a tweet, and you can send an email - http://www.savebbc3.com/bbctrust.
