You might have seen #SaveBBC3 trending again on Twitter today. That's because the campaign notched up a gear with the support of some new big name support from the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Aidan Turner, and Lena Headey joining the fight. In fact, 750 people in the creative industry today voiced their support for our campaign.
Other names supporting us include Olivia Colman, Richard E Grant, Matt Smith, and Steve Coogan as well as hundreds of other comedians, actors, agents, producers, and writers. They are all united in wanting to keep BBC3 on TV, and stopping the BBC cutting spending for young adults to just 0.6% of its budget at the same time when already so much is spent on older audiences through BBC1, 2 and 4. That's why they signed a letter to the BBC and BBC Trust earlier today - http://savebbc3.com/campaign-news/creative-industry-calls-on-trust-to-savebbc3/
With our new support coming at a vital time for the campaign we sought to shout about it. With the help of a number of those 750 people we soon created a buzz on Twitter and our campaign was trending again.
With an initial decision on the future of BBC3 coming this month we want to maintain this noise for as long as possible. Can you help by retweeting this tweet? https://twitter.com/SaveBBCThree/status/608343363042033664
The BBC Trust will make an initial proposal this month before they, once again, ask for your views. Let's fight against these cuts which once again hit our country's youngest the hardest. Let's fight for the future of BBC3's award-winning programming. And let's fight for the one BBC TV channel that gives new talent a home to try new ideas.
