To Rockstar/Take-Two: Supplement Red Dead Online with Modest Additions for All Players
The Issue
On November 27th, 2018, Rockstar Games’ open world western franchise Red Dead Redemption had players saddle up and “Breakout” into a reimagined Red Dead Online, promising an ever-expanding world in the coming months and years ahead.

By July 2021, Rockstar Games had announced that the final “Major Update” for Red Dead Online was to be the Blood Money update. It was reported by insiders that long teased and anticipated plans that were promised had been shelved and developers and resources were moved into Grand Theft Auto VI’s development.

So, players will likely never see properties added, true heists and train robberies, expansion of the three Frontier Pursuit roles, doing business with Clay and Clive Davies, or wrapping up the Land of Opportunities storyline with Horley and Jessica LeClerk.
Rockstar Outlines the Future of Red Dead Online
PROPERTY & MANSION UPDATE Found in Red Dead Online!
Red Dead Online now receives minimal support, essentially recycling bonuses and discounts each month, while many frustrating bugs continue to exist, such as the game locking up when you enter the Stables with your horse, animal spawns dwindling when the servers are too full, Moonshiner deliveries bugging if there are too many players inside the shack, Posse portrait poses get merged into one position, etc.
For players who have played since the beginning, there isn’t much left to do or achieve. Yes, the game can still be fun but only for a small amount of time before the heartbreaking realization that “this is as good as it gets” happens. There is/was so much potential.
For newer players, the number of things to do and unlock is almost overwhelming! The month-long bonuses and discounts are desirable. The grind is fun and rewarding.
This Petition is for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, signed by the player base of Red Dead Online.
What can players reasonably request? There are a few modest options which should prolong the enjoyment of Red Dead Online for all players, old and new. These are either readily available in GTA Online, or already available in Red Dead Online, but only need to be reinstated. They include:
- Multiple Character Slots: GTA Online allows players to have two Online characters linked to one Social Club account. These characters share the same Bank Account, and your Rank from the first character can be copied to your second character (capped at Rank 120 in GTA: Online), or you can start fresh from Rank 1. For Red Dead Online, this could work much the same by having both characters share Gold which is either earned or purchased, and the second character could have Rank copied up to Rank 100.
This gives old players a chance to enjoy the grind all over again without losing the progress and memories made from their first characters. Finally, they will have a use for all those discounts and coupons that were useless before!
- Additional Stable Stalls: There are a lot of unique horses to choose from in Red Dead Online, and for many players, 10 stable stalls aren’t enough. Additional stable stalls should be available to purchase with either RDO$ or a modest sum of Gold. (Also please fix the “10th Stable Stall bug” which gives that horse empty cores)
- Private Sessions: Another feature available to players in GTA: Online is Private Sessions. This would be a welcomed addition to Red Dead Online for solo players and their friends/posses to enjoy the open world teeming with animals and Random Encounters. Obviously Long-Distance Trader deliveries and Free Roam Missions with Rival Player opportunities wouldn’t be available in Private Sessions.
- Reinstate Outlaw/Quick Draw Club/Halloween Passes: Many players (especially those on PC) missed out on the earlier passes. All these items and rewards are still in the game but locked away. This would give those players a chance to purchase and earn those items and rewards, especially for those who create a second character.
- Blackjack in Online: Poker was a fun addition to Red Dead Online, and many anticipated the other minigames to make a return not long after. While players would love to see all the minigames from Story Mode return (and Liar’s Dice from Red Dead Redemption), Blackjack seems like the most logical and reasonable request, given that GTA: Online has had it working for years.
- Director Mode: *Not to be confused with the Rockstar Editor. Asking for Director Mode is admittedly a very tall order, but it would give the community much more flexibility for creating content and enjoying the depth and beauty of the world Rockstar has created. This feature could go together with Private Sessions. This is another feature that GTA: Online players have enjoyed for years.
I will leave additional requests up to the undersigned players for consideration by Rockstar/Take-Two. Every player has valid opinions and desires for a game and experience unlike no other such as Red Dead Online.
Petition Organizer: Who am I?
My name is Melissa K. I’ve been a fan of the Red Dead series since Red Dead Revolver on PlayStation 2. I have experience in organizing successful petitions and appeals to gaming development studios including Rockstar Games in the past (“Hold to Reel” for fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2/Online). I’ve been playing Red Dead Online iterations across all generations of systems it has been on. It is my hope that with reasonable and respectful requests such as the above mentioned, we can have a bit more enjoyment out of Red Dead Online.
