The New Haven Police School Resource Officer program has been in city schools for 26 years. The program Officers work with families, children and staff to provide a positive police interactions. The program is a extention of the City's Community policing initiative to provide police officers to help the citizens of the city in a supportive manner. The Officers under the direction of Sgt. Ron Ferrante provide after school and summer programs for city children to change the negitive narrative of Police Officers role in the community. Recently 2 members of the Board of Education recommended removing the officers from city schools. There are many great interactions that helped the kids during critical times in their lives. Eliminating this program will only hurt the children and families in the city. Please take a minute to help the children in New Haven by signing this petition.
