As stated in the notice, it is to take place Wednesday 15th May at the Citywide Baptist Church, 400 Cambridge Rd, Mornington, Tasmania.
It is essential we have as many people who supported our petition there as possible. Please attend, with friends, family, colleagues etc.
We also urge you ALL to lodge a written submission. It doesn't have to be anything long or complicated. It just needs to let the council know how you feel. Your submission needs to be around either or both of the petition statements:
1) The lack of meaningful community consultation.
2) The unsuitability of the sites.
You have until 8th May to get your submissions in by mail or email:
CEO Mr Ian Nelson
Clarence City Council
PO Box 96
Rosny Park 7018 or

An online survey that many people did not know about IS NOT meaningful or comprehensive community consultation or engagement. Certainly not sufficient for a development of such huge scale in our public parklands. The State Government (the AFL) approached Clarence City Council and asked them if they could have Rosny Parklands (the old golf course) for the HPC. Brendan Blomley said he would only consider this if it was what the community wanted and that the council would look for other suitable sites if this was not the case. They have absolutely not done this.
The feasibility report commissioned by the council (available on CCC website under the agenda for the 9th October 2023 meeting) conclusively found that Rosny Parklands WAS NOT suitable for the proposed development.
You may want to come to the meeting prepared to stand up and have your say. This YOUR opportunity to stand up and tell CCC that they DO NOT have overwhelming support among Clarence residents to bulldoze our public parks to make way for elite sporting organisations. We need to let them know that their lack of proper public consultation is absolutely unacceptable and that they must make concerted efforts to find more suitable locations for this development.
Thank you
