To Rasmussen Nursing University Leadership: For Immediate Changes to the Testing and Le
The Issue
To the Administration and Leadership of Rasmussen College Of Nursing,
We, the undersigned students of Rasmussen College of Nursing, collectively express our profound disappointment and frustration regarding the recent systemic challenges and failures associated with the new WK testing and learning system. These issues have significantly impacted students across all campuses, leading to widespread exam failures, inequities in learning opportunities, and an overall decline in student success.
As students, we believe that this sudden transition to the WK system has been poorly implemented and is detrimental to our academic progress. We are united in our demand for immediate corrective action, including either a return to the previous ATI system or significant changes to the current WK system.
The Issues We Face
Widespread Exam Failures
Across every Rasmussen campus of Nursing, students are failing exams at an unprecedented rate. This is a direct result of inadequate preparation resources, unfamiliar testing formats, and content that does not align with our coursework or chapter readings.
Challenges with the WK System
The WK platform is difficult to navigate, creating additional obstacles for students who are already managing the demands of their education.
Class assignments within the WK system are often disorganized or unclear, leaving students confused and unprepared.
The system is not user-friendly and lacks the intuitive design of the ATI system that was in place before.
Insufficient Preparation and Support
The mandatory two-day review class, which was supposed to familiarize us with the new WK system, failed to provide the necessary guidance. Students left the sessions feeling more confused than prepared.
There has been a lack of adequate resources and support to help us succeed under this new system, further exacerbating the problem.
Unfair Testing Practices
Many exams include content that is not covered in the chapter readings or class materials, making it impossible for students to adequately prepare.
This creates an unjust disadvantage for all students and undermines the integrity of our education.
Our Demands
Reinstate the ATI System
We request a return to the ATI testing system, which provided a more reliable, consistent, and student-friendly learning and testing experience.
Improve the WK System
If the WK system is to remain in place, substantial improvements must be made immediately, including better navigation tools, clearer assignments, and content alignment with course materials.
Provide Proper Training and Resources
Conduct comprehensive and effective training sessions for both students and faculty on how to use the WK system.
Ensure that all learning materials, including chapter readings and assignments, align with exam content.
Fair Testing Practices
Exams must only include material that has been explicitly covered in the course readings and lectures.
Exams must be revised to reflect fair weighting of questions, ensuring they do not disproportionately harm student grades.
Accommodations During System Resolution
Excuse or significantly adjust the weight of exams until the current issues with the WK system are resolved.
Offer better-designed exams that fairly assess student knowledge based on provided materials and preparation resources.
We believe that these changes are necessary to ensure the success of all Rasmussen nursing students. The current system places us at a disadvantage and undermines the quality of education that Rasmussen University college of nursing promises to deliver.
As students, we stand together to demand immediate action. Without these changes, the trust between the institution and its students will continue to erode, and future academic success will be jeopardized.
We respectfully request a response from Rasmussen college of nursing leadership and are prepared to engage in open dialogue to ensure a swift and effective resolution to these issues.
Sincerely,
The Students of Rasmussen University College Of Nursing
