We’ve reached 100 signatures! Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and supported this campaign. This truly means a great deal, especially given the challenging environment we are all working within.
The signature deadline is 17:00 tomorrow (Tuesday, February 3, 2026). After the deadline, we will finalize the signature list and submit the letter. Before submission, the signatures will be reordered alphabetically so that their temporal order is not reflected in the final list.
If you haven’t yet signed, there is still time. If you have already signed, one last share today or tomorrow could make a real difference.
Incredibly, we feel compelled to reiterate that this letter is not an “attack” on specific individuals. It is a call for institutional transparency and accountability. This should be clear to anyone who has read the letter carefully. The baseless accusations it has drawn only highlight a core concern: that legitimate institutional criticism about OIST is routinely miscast as personal hostility, which prevents it from being addressed appropriately.
In the two weeks since launching this petition, the authors have learned about the depth of the underlying issues, thanks to your engagement. Now more clearly than ever, we see the Roz case as only one part of a larger pattern in this university that goes back to its earliest years.
That said, this letter was written specifically to address the Roz issue, and we recognize that this is what you signed to support. We will therefore submit the letter as written and give the executive leadership a defined period to respond. In parallel, we are actively exploring ways to expand this initiative to address those wider concerns more comprehensively.

私たちはこの書簡が特定の個人を「攻撃」するものではないという点を—驚くべきことに—改めて強調しなければなりません。私たちが求めているのは、組織としての透明性と説明責任です。書簡を実際に読んでいただければ、そのことは明白なはずです。それにもかかわらず根拠のない非難が寄せられていることは、この大学に関する正当な制度的批判が、しばしば個人的な敵意として受け取られ、その結果、適切に向き合われなくなっているという、私たちの根本的な懸念をなおさら浮き彫りにしています。
この署名活動を立ち上げてからの2週間で、皆さまからの情報提供を通じて、著者たちは問題の根の深さをより強く実感するようになりました。現在では、Rozの件が、この大学において創設当初から続いてきた、より大きな構造的パターンの一部にすぎないことが、これまで以上に明確に見えています。
もっとも、この書簡自体はあくまでRozに関する問題について書かれたものであり、皆さまが署名されたのもその点への支持であることを私たちは十分に認識しています。そのため、書簡はこのままの内容で提出し、執行部に対して明確な回答期限を設けます。同時に、より広範な懸念に対しても、より包括的に取り組めるよう、この活動を拡張する方法を積極的に模索しています。
