It was announced Crystal Cruises will begin a planned weekly stop in Exuma for 16 weeks beginning July 2020. This will not be good for the allure or brand Exuma has worked so hard to build over the years, this will devastate the environment and ruin the local economy.  The Minister of Tourism and Aviation cut a deal with Crystal Cruises behind the backs of local businesses and residents and we need to fight back.

Cruise ships have been controversial for years because of their damage to the environment, the swarms of day-trippers they deposit on the beaches and the negative impact on local economies.  Threats to the ocean from cruise ships include sewage, gray water, bilge water, ballast water, hazardous materials, solid wastes, and even oil spills. This kills coral heads and marine populations and directly impacts the livelihood of local fisherman.  Economic losses impact local tour operators, local businesses and island homeowners.  Crystal Cruise ships will ruin what so many come to Exuma to experience.
