Joplin Missouri is a little town thinking about becoming a big city. We won't claim to be particularly impressive, and sure, we have a few issues- traffic congestion due to too many fried chicken restaurants, a shortage of bike lanes (working on it), and an unfortunate history of run-ins with strong wind. 

But being smack dab in the middle of America somewhere between 'ope' and 'y'all', we sort of represent it all: true Americana, hard work, making  beautiful art against all odds, and working together to help folks even when we can't agree about who should run the damn country. Also, Thomas Hart Benton, Langston Hughes, and Dennis Weaver are from here. So that's pretty sweet. 

We've got warts. But we're a lovable city, filled with lovable people. And those people love Nic Cage. 

We think everyone can agree: Joplin loves Nic Cage, and Nic, we'd love you to pay us a visit. We'll put you up for the night, feed you some of our favorite food, treat you to some locally roasted coffee or locally brewed beer, and let you choose your favorite film to watch with us at our local independent theater.
