To Ensure Private Dog Breeder's Need To Be Licensed #Luna's Law
The Issue
The Law on private dog breeders need to change. If a breeder has nothing to hide and makes profit from selling even just one puppy, then there is no reason that they would not be prepared to pay for a licence and adhere to it's condition's. They need to be licensed just as business breeders are under Lucy's Law. We recently purchased a Miniature Schnauzer called Luna at 8 weeks old from a private breeder. This breeder lied about several things in retrospect including the Puppies health including birth defects. Poor Luna sadly died aged just 11 weeks and 2 days. We have not only been left devistated, we have also been left to cover Vet's bills (within a week of us bringing her home, she had to be hospitalised in a pet hospital due to severe dehydration, swollen kidneys, malutrition and a liver shunt) cremation fee, we also have lost the £1000 paid to the breeder as she is refusing to refund us, nor is interested in anyway in compensating us towards the vet bill. The said breeder is only interested in making profit from various litters of her puppies. This has to stop. Without her for one being licensed, these sick and poorly puppies will continue to suffer purely through her greed to make money. Licensing private breeders will ensure that they are tracked through various ways and will stop the breeders from having too many litters or then be classed as a business. It will also ensure that all puppies will come with paperwork and ensure that the dates of worming and flea treatment at the very basic level will need to be provided. We do not want anyone else to go through the heartbreak that we have, nor do we want little Luna's short life have been for nothing. So please please support us to try to bring in Luna's Law to licence all breeders.
