One complaint from only one person is taking down a much-loved kebun in Bangsar. Kebun Kebun Bangsar (KKB) has been given a final notice by DBKL to remove all our animals from site. This much loved community garden has farm animals and they are roam freely in our farm. All our ducks, geese, chickens, cows and one sheep are tame and extremely friendly.

The animals are an integral part of our farm to keep pests at bay and also to manage the acres of grassland. They are also a crucial part of our ecosystem to enhance and allow public; especially city dwelling children to experience different animals apart from house pets (here, farm animals) by exposing them and allowing the animals to interact with them. This also teaches our children about ecosystem and how we can live harmoniously with other species in this urban jungle. By allowing children to interact with animals, we also teach them to nurture care. This is very crucial for children especially in the developing stages and eventually can help changes their behavior.

The animals are well loved by our visitors especially the children. Daily we have visitors especially children playing with the animals. The animals are well kept and maintain, and they are NOT a nuisance both in terms of noise or smell (this can easily be verified on-site). Our immediate neighbors will testify to that and have also written to DBKL to support our efforts to maintain the animals at KKB.

We desperately need your support on this now. DBKL is constantly receiving complains from one neighbor and as much as we have tried complied to his terms, he is not satisfied.

These public officers will not appreciate the animals at KKB unless our community makes their support of our cause known to them. We need you to help give YOUR perspective to the authority and plead them not to remove these animals. You can voice it out directly to Datukbandar@dbkl.gov.my. The DBKL notice is notice No 010814.
