To change back to the central Scranton Expressway and Spruce St

To change back to the central Scranton Expressway and Spruce St
The Issue
I am a resident of Scranton, NEPA region of PA, and it deeply troubles me that our beloved city's name is being used for political gains. The recent renaming of the Central Scranton Expressway and Spruce Street to Biden Expressway and Biden Street is not just a change in nomenclature; it undermines the identity of our community.
Scranton has always been more than just a hometown for politicians. It is a place where hardworking individuals build their lives, where families grow, and communities thrive. We are proud of our roots and we do not want them overshadowed by political affiliations.
The decision to rename these streets was made without considering the sentiments of thousands who call this city home. While we respect all public figures associated with our town, we believe that such significant changes should reflect the will of its residents.
According to U.S Census Bureau data from 2019, Scranton has an estimated population of 77,182 people (source: U.S Census Bureau). This petition seeks to represent those people whose voices were not heard during this decision-making process.
We urge local authorities to revert back the names - Central Scranton Expressway instead of Biden Expressway; Spruce St instead of Biden Street - as they hold historical significance for us residents.
Let's reclaim our city's identity! Sign this petition if you believe in preserving the original names that resonate with us all as proud citizens of Scranton and all of NEPA.
