To call for a immediate amending of the Nevada State Constitution to allow for a lottery

The Issue

This petition to the Governor of the state of Nevada  and the Nevada State Senate and Assembly is to call for an immediate change of the Nevada Constitution deleting Article 4 Section 24, thereby allowing us  to set up a lottery in this State with proceeds going to fund Nevada's education.

We need to set up a lottery like our neighboring states where 80 cents of each sale is directed towards the states education. According to the latest study by the Annie E. Casey Foundation Nevada ranks dead last in education. This is unacceptable to the future of our state and it's children.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are already being spent by Nevadan's on lotteries. According to The Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs Power ball, reports some of the biggest ticket sales come from border cities. It estimated that at least 18 million of our dollars go to other states due to lottery sales. Since we must travel out of state the money instead funds other state's education.

Furthermore  the amount spent on lottery tickets and funds raised for education would be far higher if people could buy tickets locally instead of wasting additional time and gas driving out of state. We already have almost every other form of gambling known to man it only makes sense to have a lottery to help fund and improve education.

You are our elected officials. It is your duty to represent the interest of the people of Nevada. IF you can not do this, we shall elect new people who will.
