My name is Payton Kellam, and I want to advocate for homeless people in need. I know people say that "the homeless did it to themselves" or "they just don't try hard enough" to get out of their situations, but that isn't always the case. Here in ABQ New Mexico, we have approximately 5,615 homeless as of 2024. Currently, people who want to go into shelters or care centers, are not allowed to because of their addiction. I want to create a plan for those who want to get help and better themselves from drugs and alcohol. This includes shelters with rehab centers, therapy, and special housing for sober individuals. The people who want to be housed and brought in must be willing to sober up from drug and/or alcohol abuse. They also must be willing to look for a job and become a working citizen. This will hopefully encourage others to change and become better people. Please sign my petition so we can help others who want to be better!!
